Red Barn Creamery and Sweet Shop (also apparently known as the Stearns Farm Stand) is part creamery, part bakery and part Farm Market. It's located in Storrs/Mansfield. The area is very cool. I parked roadside, but the entrance is around that side of the building and there was parking closer to the entrance. Out back, there is a great view of open land, grass and trees. There are a few chairs and benches and it's a peaceful spot to eat your food and let young kids run around. I bought an ice cream flight, two cookies, Silver Queen corn and heirloom tomatoes. I'm primarily reviewing the ice cream side of the business, but I'm factoring the other things in as well. Ice cream is always tasty, but I'd say the ice cream was about average for CT ice cream places making their own ice cream. I ordered a flight of Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Blueberry Cheesecake and Cow Palace. The flight came in a cup, rather than some sort of flat container that would keep the flavors separate. I feel like I had a good chance to try the Chocolate Peanut Butter (which reminded me of a Fudgesicle) and the Mint CC (which was kind of standard). The flavors below the top two, kind of blended into each other by the time I got to them. I picked up some cheesecake flavor and berry flavor and chocolate chips. All good. A highlight was the two cookies (a chocolate chip and a peanut butter chip). The kind person who helped me with my ice cream said she made the cookies that morning. My wife ate most of the cookies, but I tried both and they were fresh and delicious. I used a tomato for a BLT. It was good. The Silver queen corn was also good. Red Barn had a reasonably good selection of in season produce, baked goods such as pies, butter, milk, jarred goods. A good place to shop for stuff like that. Four Stars

Great ice cream from Mountain Dairy at a well supplied farm store with fruits, veggies and jams/jellies and the like. Panoramic views of farm fields outside from tables with umbrellas.

What a fun discovery! This is my new favorite store!!! So many local products -- from milk, butter, and ice cream, to meats, to oodles of different kinds of jams, salsas, pickles, jarred fruits - and a bakery (wish they had more GF options, but smelled amazing!). Oh and handmade soaps. The people were friendly and very helpful in finding delightful treasures to take home. Absolutely heavenly!

I was blown away by Red Barn Creamery! Their ice cream, milkshakes and pies are incredible. We got the very berry pie which was so fresh, and I wish I could have eaten all the others too! They had so many things for sale, fruit, veggies, treats, salsas, fresh meat, etc, all local and fresh! I was so happy to find this hidden gem, and I'm planning on coming back weekly to get my veggies from them! Great pricing for such good quality. I'd highly recommend! Everything they had looked amazing. Staff was very friendly as well:)

This place is amazing!!! It has all the best parts of a farmer's market tied up into one little shop. They have all sorts of homemade goodies, from jams to fresh produce to fantastic dairy products! Their pies and ice creams are the star of the show - I got a coffee oreo milkshake that was so creamy and delicious, and me and a friend split a Very Berry Pie that was unbelievable. Definitely a hidden gem and a must-visit for anyone in the area! I'll be back for sure :)

Cute indoor farm stand that has both a wide variety of produce and a bunch of different flavors of homemade ice cream! Their ice cream is pretty good, and they have both cups and generic cones, but the best thing about this place is their outdoor seats that overlook a gorgeous view. IC Q: 8 O: 5
